Historically, religion provided the roadmap to the sacred or divine and, for much of the world, it still does. For others, there’s a multitude of pathways helping people connect to a higher or collective power. Oprah believes that our yearning for her version of “God” is essentially the same as faith. “It is the heart’s yearning to know the origin of its mystery,” she has said. Her daily spiritual practice includes silence, prayer, a desire to live in the moment and gratitude. Traditional meditation, for example, has provided a spiritual framework for more than 5000 years, yet it’s now perfectly acceptable to find a mode of recalibration that works for you.
