Actress Jane Fonda is no stranger to activism. A seasoned political protestor and vocal feminist, she has used her Hollywood star status to speak out on causes she feels strongly about since the Vietnam war.

Now, at the age of 81, Fonda has spent the past four Fridays in handcuffs once more on Capitol Hill to highlight the climate emergency – something police have warned could result in the actress spending her 82nd birthday, which falls on a Saturday next month, behind bars. Especially after staging a sit-in at the US Senate building recently, where demonstrations are not permitted.
