Cyber 5050 Survey: Privacy Notice and Consent

Privacy Notice and Consent

It is important to us that you understand how Future Women (“we”, “us” or “our”) handles your personal information in terms you are comfortable with.

This notice and consent relates to our Survey and Advice initiative (Survey) under the Australian Federal Government funded Building Women’s Careers grant initiatives.

Cyber5050

Cyber5050 is an Australian Government (Government) funded project that is part of the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations’ (DEWR) Building Women’s Careers Program and is administered by the Department of Innovation, Science and Resources (DISR). Cyber5050 is delivered in partnership by CyberCX, Future Women (FW), the Australian Women in Security Network (AWSN), Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) and the Australian Services Union (ASU). Through the delivery of multiple initiatives, Cyber5050 addresses the structural and cultural barriers to women’s participation in the cyber security industry.

Delivered as part of the Cyber5050 program initiatives, FW in partnership with the AWSN will be undertaking a review of industry barriers to women’s entry into cybersecurity. To inform this review, we are issuing a survey to Cyber5050 participants regarding their experiences and perceptions of the cyber industry. The findings will inform evidence-based, actionable recommendations to enhance gender diversity across the cyber security sector and recommendations for the cyber industry to increase female participation, including from underrepresented groups such as indigenous, low socio-economic status and refugee women.

What do we collect?

We collect the Personal Information you have entered into the survey response form (such as your name, contact details, and gender), as well as your responses to survey questions (which will be collected through Survey Monkey).

Why do we collect your information?

We collect your information:

  1. To provide reports to the Government (via our partner CyberCX) on the participants’ engagement with the Survey, and the impact of this Survey against the broader Cyber5050 program objectives to ensure transparency, evaluation and accountability.
  2. For the purposes of qualitative research in conjunction with our partner, the AWSN, regarding women’s participation in the cyber security industry. The qualitative research considers barriers to women’s participation in the cyber security industry and provides practical advice to the Government. This may include sharing the data with the Cyber5050 Project Lead (CyberCX) and/or incorporating your deidentified Survey responses in the advice to government.
  3. For our marketing activities in connection with other relevant Cyber5050 program initiatives and partners. We may contact you about events we may conduct in 2025-2027. This may include but is not limited to options for further educational courses, surveying regarding the Cyber5050 program, FW opportunities and other events or activities relating to cyber security.

Where will we store your information

FW manages records using enterprise cloud-based architecture, which is securely encrypted in-transit and at-rest and stored using strong industry standards and practices.

Information collected via Survey Monkey will be stored in a locked file in Google Sheets, where all analysis will be undertaken. The file will be stored in a secure cloud-based server in Australia, with daily backups and DR located 250 km away from the primary data centre.

Sharing outside Future Women

During this Survey response your personal information may be shared to the following third parties to facilitate research analysis, reporting and administration:

  • Survey Monkey, the platform we use to host the survey, in order to conduct the survey.
  • For the purposes of qualitative research in conjunction with our partner, AWSN, regarding women’s participation in the cyber security industry. The qualitative research will inform the development and publishing of actionable recommendations to government to address cultural and structural barriers to women participation in the cyber security sector. This may include sharing the data with the Project Lead (CyberCX) and incorporating your deidentified application responses into larger datasets gathered as part of other Cyber5050 initiatives.
  • Our Cyber5050 delivery partners (CyberCX, AWSN, CIT and the ASU) for the purposes of cross-promotion, delivery of the Cyber5050 program initiatives and the Cyber5050 program evaluation criteria and outcomes.
  • The Cyber5050 Project Lead (CyberCX) and the Government as required for reporting against the Cyber5050 evaluation criteria. However, any such reporting will be done on an anonymised basis and will not include personal identifiable information.

Retention of your information

We will retain your personal information given to us in your survey response for a period of 2 years after the date you complete the survey. We may retain your survey response in a de-identified format beyond this timeframe, to the extent that it forms part of our Cyber5050 report findings.

After this period, we will delete your personal information unless we are required to continue retaining it for a legal or regulatory purpose. In which case, we will retain your information for the duration permitted or required under the relevant legal or regulatory requirement.

Consent

By participating in the Cyber5050 survey you consent to CyberCX’s collection, use and disclosure of your personal information as set out in this notice and consent. If you do not consent to such activities, we will not be able to provide you with access to the Survey.
